EnglandIn England we have
three full time missionaries: Barbara Van Valkenburg, Kate Macnab and Angeline White,
all based in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
Between them and a small team of volunteers they run Bible Clubs, take school
assemblies, run Mums and Toddlers groups, support their local churches, offer puppet
workshops and run summer camps and holiday clubs. BCM also runs Chatterboxes pre-school in Weston-super-Mare.
English camps are run each summer in a well-equipped residential centre in Somerset and have consistently proved to be a great opportunity to show children the gospel. After many years of just one week of English camp, we are launching a second week of camp in 2014 for 11-14 year olds to complement the week for 8-11 year olds. It is our desire that we do not lose contact with children at age 11 and we hope and pray that the new camp will go someway to growing the next generation of workers. English camps are directed by Angeline White. |
Northern IrelandIn Northern Ireland our camp site at Mullartown House, Annalong is run by full-time missionaries Scott and Joanna Widman. With a large team of volunteers they co-ordinate children’s, young teens, senior teens, extreme teens and family weeks through the summer. Throughout the year they host camp reunions, club and other church group weekends. Also based at Mullartown House are Gemma (full-time) and Jason Hill (part-time) who run Bible study groups, work in local schools, run ‘Mullartown On Tour’ as well as helping in the local church and with the production of brochures. Naomi Fox, a full-time volunteer based in the Lisburn area, leads ‘Bible Explorer’ and assemblies in primary schools as well as Bible Clubs, children’s fun days and ladies meetings. BCM Northern Ireland is blessed with many volunteers who run/help with all our activities.

ScotlandBCM has seven workers in Scotland, some full-time and some self-supporting: Stanley and Irene Paget, Audrey Golder, Fiona Blyth and Steve & Liz Marr work in and around the Glasgow area and Mary Barclay in the Central region. In addition to Bible Clubs, taking school assemblies, supporting local churches, offering puppet programmes and running summer camps and five day holiday clubs, the Scottish team also run extremely popular Women’s Weekends of teaching and encouraging. Additional ministries include counselling, and training in the technique of Inductive Bible Studies. In recent years the team have also developed visuals for BCM’s Footsteps of Faith Bible teaching material in an electronic format.
BCM has been running camps in Scotland since 1957. They have always had a family atmosphere as most of our staff first came to camp as children and have continued to return. We run three camps a year: Spring ‘Minicamp’ which is ideal for 8-12 year olds who haven’t been away from home before; and two weeks of camp in summer, one for 8-12 year olds and one for teenagers. Each camp has a varied programme of games, sports, crafts, competitions, drama and music, all designed to bring out the best in the camper and help them grow physically and spiritually. Our camps are supported by several senior youth who take leading roles. Enquiries about Scottish camps should be directed to Stan & Irene Paget. |
